Kylie can rip out a set of one arm push-ups quicker than you can say 'gym membership renewal'.
Sometimes referred to as 'The Goddess in Reeboks', Kylie is the current Australian Sport Aerobics Champ, holds the World Dutch Cup title (with those mighty toned arms) and finished third at the World Championships in 2008 - kinda awesome for someone who is self trained and holds down a full-time job.
Update: (December, 2009) - Kylie recently opened a big can of whoop ass at the 2009 World FISAF Sport Aerobic Championships and is the new World Individual Female Champion.
Name: Kylie Thomas
Day job? Salon Coordinator / Customer Liaison at The Basin Haircutters, Goodwood Rd, Goodwood, South Australia.
Full time Sport Aerobic athlete in my spare time.
Dream job? I love to travel and I have been very fortunate to have travelled a lot of the world with my sport. I think the best job in the world would be a host on The Great Outdoors or Getaway. What would be better then telling people all about the wonders of the world whilst getting to experience them for yourself.
Who in Sport Aerobics would be voted
most likely to become a celebrity chef and why? Tiia Piili from Finland! Tiia is the 4x World Champion from Finland. Recently retired she is one of the best competitors I have competed against. Having got to know her on a personal level I have developed a very close friendship with her and her fiance Mikko. I can honestly say she knows more about Sport Aerobics than possibly the whole judging panel combined. She has analysed every aspect of the sport and knows the rules inside out. I am very lucky to have Tiia help me with my continued training and know that when showing her my routine regardless of how good I think it may be looking, Tiia will always find little areas for improvement … Her motto is you can always be better.
So as a chef Tiia's food would always be perfect to taste and perfect in presentation.
Do you like coco pops? My parents use to let us kids have coco pops every Sunday growing up, but I honestly can say I haven't had coco pops in years – they're a little too sweet for me now.
What song best sums you up? Christina Aguilera - Fighter. I don't believe in natural talent, to become the best at what you do requires determination and hard work. I have had my fair share of injuries over the years but I have surrounded myself with positive people who help encourage me and keep me on track. I enjoy the fight, I enjoy training hard and I enjoy the end results.
What would your mutant super power be? I would love to be able to read minds - wouldn't we all!?!
What's the dish you cook most at home for yourself? Honestly my husband does the majority of the cooking in our household, it’s definitely his forte and not mine - however I do make some very yummy roast potatoes!
Can I have the recipe? Cut potatoes into small cubes.
Pre-heat oven to 220ºC.
Place potatoes into a large pan of cold, salted water and bring to the boil.
As soon as the water starts to boil take them off immediately and drain them in a colander - allow them to steam for a few minutes.
Grind up rosemary leaves in a pestle and mortar.
Heat some olive oil in a roasting tray.
Add garlic cloves, potatoes, rosemary oil and ground up leaves.
Season and toss together until all potatoes are coated nicely in oil and rosemary.
Place in oven for 20-25 minutes - shake tray and check potatoes every so often until they are a golden brown and nice and crispy.
